Obituary of Susan Jean Elston

Funeral Services for Susan Jean Elston of Winfield, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Jonathan Shelor, pastor of First Baptist Church in Lake St. Louis, MO, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Camp, Joseph Kaufman, James Dear, Andrew Beckemeier, Matthew Bals, Levi Whiston and James Whiston; and honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Camp, Everett Beckemeier, Joseph Kaufman and Colin Kaufman. Ms. Elston, 62, passed away Sunday evening, January 19, 2020 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis. Born November 3, 1957, in Troy, MO, she was the daughter of Paul Franklin and Betty Mae Lusse Elston. Susan was a 1976 graduate of Winfield High School; and later earned her Bachelor Degree in Business from Missouri Baptist University in 2000. Susan was a Business and Technology teacher for Winfield High School. She enjoyed singing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Elston. Survivors include her children: Kelly Camp and her husband, Landon, of Defiance, MO, Rachel Kaufman and her husband, Joseph, of St. Peters, MO, Andrew Beckemeier and his wife, Lara, of Winfield and Laura Dear and her husband, James, of St. Charles; and nine grandchildren: Joseph, Samuel, Molly, Everett, Eleanor, Ruby, Marty, Colin and Nora. Susan also leaves her mother, Betty Elston of Winfield; two sisters: Paula Bals and her husband, Randy, of Old Monroe, MO and Nancy Whiston and her husband, Tom, of Palmyra, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous friends and cherished students. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
