Karla Cunningham and Kera Mashek will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Steavenson, Nick Painter, Ben Painter, Will Painter, Marc Painter, Sam Painter, Blake Painter and Adam Painter. Inurnment in Winfield Cemetery will be held at a later date. Mrs. Painter, 84, passed away late Sunday night, January 5, 2020 at her home. Born November 12, 1935 in Rodney, AR, she was the last of four children born to Hoyd and Audra Langston. At the age of two, Nona and her family relocated to Bakersfield, CA during the depression. At the age of four, the family moved to Winfield, MO where Nona’s father ran the rural mail route from Winfield to Batchtown, IL. Nona attended Winfield Schools where she was a star basketball player during her high school years, graduating in 1953. It was here that she met and fell in love with James Painter. They were married January 27, 1955 in Winfield. To this marriage, two children were born: Brigitte in 1957 and Craig in 1960. Nona was a stay-at-home mother, adoring her children. Nona and James traveled the world, covering most of North America, Europe and Asia. She loved to play golf, enjoying the game everywhere they traveled. No one loved their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than Nona. She relished every visit and shared their stories with her friends. Rest in peace our sweet lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her loving daughter, Brigitte in 2018. Survivors include her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Jim Painter of O’Fallon; one son, Craig Painter and his wife, Jen, of St. Peters; ten grandchildren and their mates, and eleven great-grandchildren. Nona also leaves thirteen nieces and nephews, their mates and children; a host of lifetime good friends and her loving dog, Gizmo. She will be sorely missed by all. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to Winfield High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
