Obituary of Rosalyn Farris Woods

Funeral Services for Rosalyn “Rosie” Farris Woods of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Rev. Roger Briggs, Pastor of Star Hope Baptist Church, and Rev. Raymond Doussard will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry.  Serving as pallbearers will be Vic Parsons, Lynn Parsons, Jessie Dakin, Steven Woods, Avery Maschmeier, Stephen Gilbert, Robert Gilbert and James LaFarlette.


Mrs. Woods, 78, passed away Thursday evening, November 21, 2019 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO.  Born May 3, 1941 in Kirksville, MO, she was the daughter of Neale Nichalos and Bernice June Norton Woods.  Rosie was united in marriage on May 24, 1959 in Bible Grove, MO to Robert Max Woods.  She was a 1960 graduate of Scotland Co. R-1.  Robert and Rosie were blessed with four children: Lorance Lynn, Richard Wayne, James David and Rebecca Ann.  She was a loving housewife.  Rosie was a longtime member of Star Hope Baptist Church.


Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Neale and Bernice Farris; two sisters: Carolyn Redford and her twin sister, Arlene Farris, who died at birth; one grandson, Colt Alan Woods; and her beloved husband of nearly 47 years, Robert Woods, who died April 19, 2006.


Survivors include her children: Lorance Woods and his wife, Sherrie, of Powell, WY, Richard Woods and his wife, Debra, of O’Fallon, MO, David Woods of Trenton, MO and Rebecca Maschmeier and her husband, Michael, of Belleville, IL; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Rosie also leaves three sisters: Sara Jeffries and her husband, Royce, of Downing, MO, Rita Palomo and Marilyn McCluey and her husband, Harry, of Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the Star Hope Baptist Church Scholarship Fund (or) the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
