Obituary of John Edgar Trower
Funeral Services for John Edgar Trower of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Troy, MO. Minister Lee Lewis, will officiate with burial in Winfield Cemetery in Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Niebruegge, Chris Davis, Robert Sapp, Matthew Trower, Daniel Trower and Paul Graham; and honorary pallbearers Dale Colbert, Kurt Colbert, Chris Trower and Jacob Trower.
Mr. Trower, 80, passed away Sunday night, November 3, 2019 at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, MO. Born June 24, 1939 in Olney, MO, he was the son of Edgar and Clara Belle Clark Trower. John was a 1957 graduate of Troy High School. He was united in marriage on July 9, 1960 in Troy to Edna Carol Kitson. This union was blessed with five children: Ray, Jim, Gregory, Gwen and Lynn. He worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist for McDonald Douglas Aircraft for many years.
John was a longtime member and Past Master of Troy Masonic Lodge #34 AF&AM, and frequently traveled to and participated in all the Masonic lodges in the area. He was also an active member of York Rite Masonry where he was Past High Priest of Bellefontaine Chapter #25 of the Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of York Council #40 of the Cryptic Masons and Past Eminent Commander of Ivanhoe Commandery #8 of the Knights Templar; and former member of BPOE Elks Lodge in North Fort Meyers, FL. John was a faithful attendant of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Clara Trower; one son, Gregory William Trower; one brother, George Trower; his half-sister, Lillian Weitzman; and his beloved wife of nearly 44 years, Edna Trower, who died February 26, 2004.
Survivors include two sons: Ray Trower and his wife, Nona, of Troy and Jim Trower and his companion, Joann Bahr, of Foley, MO; two daughters: Gwen Niebruegge and her husband, Rob, of Wentzville, MO, and Lynn Davis and her husband, Chris, of Winfield; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. John also leaves his companion Linda Clark of Elsberry; one sister, Edna Mae Belter of Troy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
