Obituary of Hazel Garnet Stillwell

Funeral Services for Hazel Garnet Stillwell of Troy, MO formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Rev. Conrad Cheatham, pastor of the Elsberry ARPresbyterian Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.  

Mrs. Stillwell, 91, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 2019 at Troy Manor in Troy.  Born September 11, 1928 near Elsberry in rural Lincoln County, MO, she was the daughter of Alford and Lula Anne Barnes McDonald.  Hazel was united in marriage to William McAfee “Mack” Stillwell.  This union was blessed with one son, Mack “Wayne”.  After attending Fairview Elementary rural school, Hazel started working at the Lamont Glove Factory in Elsberry at a very young age.  She was employed there for many years.  She later worked for many families in the Elsberry community as a home healthcare provider. 

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Lulu McDonald; one sister, Irene Swan; three brothers: Charles “Buck” McDonald, John McDonald and Norman McDonald; her son, Wayne Stillwell in 2015; and her beloved husband, Mack Stillwell.

Survivors include one sister, Jeanett Palmer of Elsberry; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
