Obituary of Donald Lyman Taylor

Funeral Services for Donald Lyman Taylor of Elsberry, MO will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Rev. Bill O’Neal, pastor of the St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy, MO, will officiate.


Mr. Taylor, 90, passed away Sunday night, September 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.  Born September 13, 1929 in St. Louis County, he was the son of Harry J. and Lillie M. Asimont Taylor.  Don was united in marriage on December 21, 1968 in O’Fallon, MO to Aline Marie Lippert Hotop Taylor.  Their home was blessed with 8 children: Donald J., Janet, Annette, David W., David J., Davine, Susan and Scott.  Don was self-employed for many years; and later worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineers Local #513, retiring in January of 1989.


Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lillie Taylor; two children: Donald J. Taylor and Janet M. Tisi; one brother, George Bennedict Taylor; and three sisters: Jeannette Richardson, Francis Elizabeth Aubuchon and Mildred Louise Robitaille.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Aline Taylor of Elsberry; their children: Annette L. Dinkela and her husband, David, of Troy, David W. Taylor, David J. Hotop and his wife, Rose, of Colorado Springs, CO, Davine Wade of Fulton, MO, Susan Taylor (formerly Fomera) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Scott Taylor and his wife, Stacy, of Marion, IA; thirty-one grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren.  Don also leaves one sister, Pauline “Pat” Marie AuBuchon of Bonne Terre, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
