Obituary of Darrell Franklin Dillon, Sr.

 

Funeral Services for Darrell Franklin Dillon, Sr. of Foley, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO.  Rev. Mark Payne, pastor of Calvary Chapel-Winfield, will officiate.  Full Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.  Pallbearers will be Dennis Dillon, Darrell Dillon III, David Dillon, Dakota Wheeler, Nathan Dillon and Gregory Ory.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Jacobs, Eric Schnack, Moe Anderson and Darrell Biggerstaff.

           
Mr. Dillon, 66, passed away Sunday night, September 15, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO.  Born January 23, 1953 in St. Charles, MO he was the son of Gilbert Arnold and Gladys Geraldine Cates Dillon.  Darrell was united in marriage on April 5, 1969 in O’Fallon, MO to Linda Diann Amos.  He served in the United States Marine Corps from June 23, 1971 until he was honorably discharged on June 20, 1975.  Darrell worked as a truck driver for many years.  He loved to work on cars, motors and hunt.

           
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Gladys Dillon; one son, Darrell Dillon, Jr.; one sister, Patsy B; and one brother, Roy Dillon.

           
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda Dillon of Foley; one daughter, Diann Pruitt and her husband, Scott, of Elsberry, MO; two sons: Dennis Dillon of Foley and Jeremy Hunt of Warrenton, MO; eight grandchildren: Darrell III, Alexa, Alayna, David, Dakota, Nathan, Karisa and Caleb; and many great-grandchildren.  Darrell also leaves three sisters: Betty Coker and her husband, John, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Mary O’Brien and her husband, Daniel, of Foley, and Theresa Frothingham and her husband, Freeman, of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

           
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home , 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
