Obituary of Richard Theodore Collins

Graveside Services for Richard Theodore Collins of Elsberry, MO will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Downing Cemetery near Elsberry.  Rev. Murray Phillips of Auburn Presbyterian Church near Auburn, MO will officiate.

Mr. Collins, 90, passed away Monday evening, September 9, 2019 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry.  Born April 5, 1929 in Pomona, CA, he was the son of Howard and Lotta Mae Whipp Collins.  Richard was a graduate of Pomona High School.  He was united in marriage on June 9, 1949 in Pomona to Patricia Jane Matthews.  This union was blessed with four children: David, Tami, Joy and Bob.  Richard worked as a factory employee for Monsanto Corp. in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1997.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lotta Collins; three sisters: Stella Collins, Elizabeth Houston and Violet Walker; and one brother, William “Bill” Collins.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Patricia Collins of Elsberry; their children: David Collins and his wife, Debbie, of Weeki Wachee, FL, Tami Nichols of Oviedo, FL, Joy Kick and her husband, Mark, of Berger, MO and Bob Collins and his wife, Judy, of Elsberry; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Richard also leaves one brother, Jack Collins of Pomona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
