Obituary of Wanda Jean Gilmore

Memorial Services for Wanda Jean Gilmore of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Rev. Kris Hagemeier, pastor of the Elsberry First Christian Church, will officiate with inurnment in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry.  


Mrs. Gilmore, 68, passed away Wednesday night, August 28, 2019 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO.  Born January 11, 1951 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Anthony John “Tony” and Genevieve June Capps Schmidt.  Wanda was united in marriage on April 14, 1984 in St. Charles, MO to Ronnie Kenneth Gilmore.  After working in a medical office, Wanda found a passion for making and selling handmade jewelry with her husband.


Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Genevieve Schmidt; one brother, Gregory Lee Schmidt in 2015; and her beloved husband of 30 years, Ronnie Gilmore, who died on July 25, 2014.


Survivors include one step-daughter, Darla Teply and her husband, Richard, of Winder, GA; two granddaughters: Destiny Silich and her husband, Chris, and Danielle Clark and her partner, Candice, of Winder; and two great-grandchildren: Genevieve and Oliver.  Wanda also leaves one sister, Patricia Schwinegruber of New Castle, DE; two brothers: Phillip Schmidt of Winfield, MO and John Schmidt and his wife, Carolyn, of Clarksville, MO; one sister-in-law, Jeannie Schmidt of Louisiana, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Association, the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (or) PALS of Lincoln County in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
