A Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis Herman Freise of Old Monroe, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Associate Pastor Charles "Chuck" Tichacek, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, MO, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Delbert Burkemper, Marty Mennemeyer, David Moliter, Gary Hoffman, Robert "Rosco" Hines and Gerald "Buzz" Rothermich. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Wehde and Lee Nickles.
Mr. Freise, 70, died early Thursday morning, July 27, 2006 at his home near Old Monroe, MO. Born September 19, 1935 in Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Hubert J. and Olivia Caroline Burkemper Freise. He served his country during Peacetime in the U.S. Army from August 6, 1958 until being honorably discharged August 5, 1960. He was united in marriage on June 10, 1961 in Troy, MO to Patsy Marie Harrell. This union was blessed with three children: Beverly, Roy and Sandra. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, Mr. Freise was a farmer, and the former co-owner of Freise Construction Company in Old Monroe, retiring in 1995. He was also part-owner and operator of Moscow Mills Lumber Company in Moscow Mills, MO. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, where he was an active member of the Men's Alter Society. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #420 and Knights of Columbus, both of Old Monroe, the Chain of Rocks Gun Club, 5 D's Horseshoe Team, Flying D's Duck Club and a 50-year member of Local #1987 Carpenter's Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Olivia Freise; and one daughter, Beverly Freise, who passed away August 23, 2001.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Pat Freise of Old Monroe; one son, Roy Freise and his wife, Debra, of Old Monroe; one daughter, Sandra Freise of Old Monroe; and six grandchildren: Crystal Zeller and her husband, Dan, Carmen Brown, Brett Freise, Darren Freise, Brandon Freise and Jenna Freise. He also leaves two brothers: Edward Freise and his wife, Mary Ann, of Moscow Mills and Victor Freise and his wife, Janet, of Evanston, IL; three sisters: Rose Mary Freise of Marthasville, MO, JoAnne Hines and her husband, Robert "Rosco", of Winfield, MO and Carol Nickles and her husband, Bob, of Old Monroe; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. A Prayer Service was held at 5:00 p.m., American Legion Service was held at 7:00 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Service was held at 8:30 p.m. Visitation was continued from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church.
