Obituary of Edith Bernice McGee

Graveside Services for Edith Bernice McGee of Granite City, IL will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, August 26, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, IL.  J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate.

Mrs. McGee, 88, passed away Friday morning, August 23, 2019 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO.  Born June 30, 1931 in Alexander County, IL, she was the daughter of Floyd and Anna Snell Miller; where she continued to live throughout her childhood.  After graduating high school, Bernice furthered her education by earning a Cosmetology License. 

She was united in marriage on November 10, 1950 in Arkansas to Patrick Henry McGee; moving to Granite City where she lived the rest of her life.  Bernice and Patrick were blessed with two children: Dennis and Beverly Kay.  Bernice held several jobs and especially enjoyed working in the offices for the International Shoe Company in St. Louis, MO.  Throughout her life, Bernice was a seamstress, gardener, homemaker and caregiver for others. 

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Miller and his wife, Louise, and Anna Haskenhoff and her husband, Elmer; and her beloved husband of 40 years, Patrick McGee who died January 18, 1991.

Survivors include her children: Dennis McGee of Granite City and Kay Briscoe and her husband, Bill, of Elsberry; and two grandchildren: William Briscoe and his wife, Catt, of Elsberry and Victoria Briscoe of Bowling Green, MO.  Bernice also leaves other relatives and friends.
