Celebration of Life Visitation
Obituary of Richard Allen Green
Graveside Services for Richard Allen Green of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Jess Wilson will officiate. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Elsberry United Methodist Church Hall.
Mr. Green, 77, passed away Sunday morning, August 11, 2019 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born April 19, 1942 in Russelville, AR, he was the son of Robert and Lois Verdell Moudy Green. Richard was a 1960 graduate of Elsberry High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force from January 31, 1961 until he was honorably discharged on April 30, 1965 as an Airman First Class. Richard was united in marriage on November 29, 1964 in Elsberry to Karen Marie Steward. This union was blessed with one daughter, Darcy.
Richard worked for Monsanto; and later as a real estate agent for Moudy Real Estate. He was a former member of American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry. Richard was an avid fisherman, enjoying his time at Mark Twain Lake. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and visiting with people.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Green and Verdell Green Brooksher; and his beloved wife of 51 years, Karen Green, who died March 30, 2016.
Survivors include his daughter, Darcy Cheek and her husband, Lee, of Venetia, PA; and two grandchildren who were the highlight of his life, Ethan and Leah Cheek. Richard is also survived by two sisters: Deanna Blackmore and her husband, Duaine, of Conway, AR and Garnet Shelburne of Land of Lakes, FL; one brother, David Brooksher of Mexico, MO; special cousins: Jean Allen and her husband, Jim, of St. Charles, MO, Louise Loyd of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Keith and Terri Moudy of Innsbrook, MO; his brother-in-law, Sam Steward and his wife, Joy of Ballwin, MO. Also mourning the loss of Richard is his special life-long friend, Jean Evans Steward of Ballwin; his “gifts of the heart”: Errol and Carol Spratt of Elsberry, and Lisa Larson and her husband, Kyle, along with their children: Claire and Benjamin of Troy, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
