Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Jo Anne Talbot Funeral services for Jo Anne Talbot of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Ms. Talbot's uncle, Rev. Duane Blackmore, of Conway, AR, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons: Brandon Talbot, Samuel Pickard, Zachary Talbot, Joseph Ogden, Ezekial Talbot and Trevor Talbot. Honorary pallbearers were also her grandsons: Kevin Dotson, Scott Kroeger, Adam Talbot and great-grandson, Cale Mackey. Ms. Talbot, 72, died Wednesday evening, July 19, 2006 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Born February 11, 1934 in Foley, MO, she was the daughter of Joseph Samuel and Milroy B. Blackmore Whiteside. She was a 1951 graduate of Elsberry High School. A talented vocalist, she sang for many years with a local trio. She also recorded two records in Nashville, TN in the late 1960's and 1970's. While she lived in Florida, she sang with several local jazz groups. She was an accomplished seamstress, supplying costumes for many school plays and musicals; applying letters, names and patches to school letter jackets; and creating many, many Halloween costumes for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Talbot served as Collector for the City of Elsberry for two terms, retiring March 31, 2000. She was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry where she was a member of the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Milroy Whiteside; and one grandson, Lucas Andrew Talbot. Survivors include four sons: C. Michael "Mike" Talbot and his wife, Peggy, of Elsberry, Joseph C. "Joe" Talbot and his wife, Carla, of Elsberry, Mark W. Talbot and his wife, Cindy, of Elsberry, and John D. Talbot and his wife, Angie, of Elsberry; three daughters: Kathryn A. "Kathy" Ogden and her husband, Harry Gene, of Elsberry, Christine M. "Christy" Dotson and her husband, Danny, of Elsberry, and Jennifer L. "Jenny" Kroeger and her husband, Mark, of Elsberry; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers: Joseph Samuel Whiteside, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Whittier, CA, Edward Lee Whiteside and his wife, Linda, of Sparks, NV, and Robert Creevy Whiteside and his wife, Diane, of Anaheim, CA; several cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
