Obituary of Walter Lee Nickelson

Walter L. Nickelson

          Funeral Services for Walter Lee Nickelson of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.  Rev. James Calvin of Eminence, MO, will officiate, with burial in Old Alexandria Cemetery near Troy, MO.  Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Calvin, Lisa Ward, Lester Ward, Sr., Lester Ward, Jr., Tommy Nickelson, Tina Nickelson and Lacie Dreisewerd.

            Mr. Nickelson, 81, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 13, 2019 at his home near Winfield.  Born September 26, 1937 in Cadet, MO, he was the son of Everet and Gladys Courtway Nickelson.  He worked for many years as a truck driver for Revelle Trucking in St. Charles County, MO, retiring in 1999.  Walter was united in marriage on August 5, 1978 in Bridgeton, MO to Edna Elizabeth Harding.  

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Everet and Gladys Nickelson; two brothers, Elmer Nickelson and Bobby Nickelson; and two sisters: Bonnie Stone and Dee Werle.

            Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 41 years, Edna Nickelson of Winfield; three sons: Tommy Nickelson and his wife, Stacey, of Houma, LA, Jason Calvin of Joplin, MO, and Andrew Calvin and his wife, Jana, of New Athens, IL; four daughters:  Christine LaFleur of Kansas City, KS, Lisa Ward and her husband, Lester, of Joplin, Tina Nickelson of Baton Rouge, LA, and Lacie Dreisewerd of Alton, IL; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Walter also leaves three brothers: Jamie Nickelson and his wife, Debbie, of Festus, MO, Phillip Nickelson and his wife, Eva, of Festus, and Carl Nickelson of Warrenton, MO; one sister: Kathy Brant of Warrenton; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

            Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
