Obituary of Pearl Mae Zumwalt
Funeral Services for Pearl Mae Zumwalt of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Elsberry Assembly of God Church under the direction of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes. Rev. Richard Pillers, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Pruitt, John Lee Pruitt, Jimmy Dale Pruitt, David Wayne McNelly, Tyler McNelly and Ryan McNelly; and honorary pallbearers, Matthew McNelly, James Michael McNelly and Tanner McNelly.
Mrs. Zumwalt, 89, passed away Friday afternoon, March 22, 2019 at Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, MO. Born October 25, 1929 in Cushing, OK, she was the daughter of Oliver David and Edith Josephine Barnard Jobe. Pearl was united in marriage on June 14, 1948 in Cushing, OK to Thomas Harold McNelly. This union was blessed with five children: Regina Kay, David Harold, James Raymond, Thomas Dale and Calvin George. The wife of a minister, Pearl was active in all the churches Harold served and they both enjoyed singing Gospel music. After 52 years of marriage, Rev. Harold McNelly passed away on December 24, 1990. Pearl was married again on July 7, 1997 in Elsberry to Harry William Zumwalt. She was a member of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church in Elsberry.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Edith Jobe; one son, James Raymond McNelly in 1982; one sister, Barbara Ann Jaght; her first husband, Rev. Harold McNelly; and her husband of 16 years, Harry William Zumwalt on September 11, 2013.
Survivors include her children: Regina Pruitt and her husband, John of Elsberry, David McNelly of Quincy, IL, Thomas McNelly of LaGrange, MO, and Calvin McNelly and his wife, Tina, of Elsberry; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Q. McNelly of Madisonville, TN; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 16 great, great-grandchildren. Pearl also leaves one sister, Martha King of Marvell, AR; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Elsberry Assembly of God Church in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
