Obituary of Harriet Wilhelmina Bauer

          A Mass of Christian Burial for Harriet Wilhelmina Bauer of O’Fallon, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe, MO.  Father Richard Rath, church pastor, and Father Gerald Blessing, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, MO, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be David Gipson, Joe Ratkewicz, Sam Tricamo, Ben Pellerito, David Bauer, Lewis Bauer and Edward Bambrick.

            Mrs. Bauer, 94, passed away Friday afternoon, March 8, 2019 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO.  Born March 19, 1924 in Chain of Rocks, MO, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Lucille Wehde Harke.  She was united in marriage on February 14, 1950 in Old Monroe to Edwin Clem “Epp” Bauer.  This union was blessed with eleven children: Richard, Fran, Marie, Therese, Jackie, Paul, Tom, Tony, Jesse, Ann and Rose.  Harriet was a loving housewife.  She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lucille Harke; three brothers: Robert “Bob” Harke, Carl Harke and Gary Harke; one son, Richard Bauer; one son-in-law, John Ratkewicz; and her beloved husband of 63 years, Epp Bauer, who died November 12, 2013.

            Survivors include ten children: Fran Ratkewicz of St. Peters, MO, Marie Tricamo and her husband, Jim, of Four Seasons, MO, Therese Gipson and her husband, Bob, of St. Peters, Jackie Gunn and her husband, Michael, of Lubbock, TX, Paul Bauer and his wife, Daleen, of St. Louis, MO, Tom Bauer and his wife, Rachel, of Winfield, MO, Tony Bauer of Elsberry, MO, Jesse Bauer and his wife, Terri, of St. Paul, MO, Ann Pellerito of St. Peters, and Rose Bambrick and her husband, Scott, of St. Peters; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.           Harriet also leaves two brothers: Roy Harke and his wife, Norma, of O’Fallon and Earl Harke and his wife, Betty, of Old Monroe; two sisters: Ruth Bauer and Kathryn Bowman, both of Old Monroe; six sisters-in-law: Ann Harke and Bernadette Harke, both of Old Monroe, Dot Harke of Wentzville, MO, Genevieve Bauer of St. Peters, Marilyn Bauer and Ruth Bauer, both of O’Fallon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Immaculate Conception in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
