Obituary of Donald Burnard Brewer, Sr.

Funeral Services for Donald Burnard Brewer, Sr. of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, retired New Home BaptistChurch pastor, will officiate. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Brewer, Jr., Donevan Brewer, Trenton Brewer, Richard Rea, Corbin Rea and Ron Brewer.

Mr. Brewer, 72, passed away early Friday morning, January 4, 2019 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born February 7, 1946 in Shawneetown, IL, he was the son of Burnard Horace and Ailene Brooks Brewer. Don served his country in the United States Army from November 10, 1966 until he was honorably discharged on October 21, 1968. He worked as a Control Lineman for Lucent Technology, retiring in 2003.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Burnard and Ailene Brewer; and granddaughter, Breanna Brewer.

Survivors include his children: Donald Brewer, Jr. and his wife, Airianna, of Elsberry and Cindy Rea and her husband, Richard, of Ironton, MO; and seven grandchildren: Donevan, Trenton,Keegan, Camden and Makalynn Brewer, and Austin and Corbin Rea. Don also leaves one brother, Ronald Brewer and his wife, Linda, of Defiance, MO; one sister, Veronica Sue Eberhardt of St. Charles, MO; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January8, 2019 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Don’s preferred animal shelter, the Petfinder Foundation and Veterans service, American Legion Post #226 in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
