Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death William Thomas "Uncle Bill" Gray Funeral services for William Thomas "Uncle Bill" Gray of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Jeff Fernberg, pastor of the Elsberry First Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were be John Stone, Kent Gray, Mark Gray, Bill Phillips and Nick Sciarratta. Mr. Gray, 90, died early Saturday morning, June 24, 2006 at Silex Community Care Center in Silex, MO. Born August 2, 1915 in Elsberry, MO, he was the son of Arthur Francis and Myrtle Mitchell Gray. He was united in marriage on June 6, 1936 in Troy, MO to Lucille Rinaman. This union was blessed with two children: Linda and Randell. For many years, Bill owned and operated Gray's Delivery Service and then later worked as a bus driver for the Elsberry School District. He was a member of the Elsberry First Baptist Church and a former member of Odd Fellows. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Myrtle Gray; two brothers: Olon Gray and Frank Gray; five sisters: Nellie Reed, Mary Ligon, Ina Bennear, Frances Crenshaw and Kathryn Parker; his daughter, Linda Stone, who died in 1996, and his beloved wife of 65 years, Lucille Gray, who died August 23, 2001. Survivors include his son, Randell Gray and his wife, Glynna, of Johnston City, IL; his former son-in-law, John Stone and his wife, Rosina of Lake St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren: Kent Gray and his wife, Caraline of St. Louis, MO, Mark Gray and his companion, Trisha Erwin, also of St. Louis, Shawna Sciarratta and her husband, Nick, of O'Fallon, MO, Kara Stone of Webster Groves, MO and Shelley Lynn Phillips and her husband, Bill, of St. Charles, MO; two great-grandchildren: Kent Gray and Dominick Sciarratta. He also leaves one brother, Milton Gray of Elsberry; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
