Obituary of James Delbert Florea

 

Funeral Services for James Delbert Florea of Winfield, MO will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.  Rev. Jim Walker, pastor of Hazelwood Baptist Church, will officiate.  Inurnment with full military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date.

           
Mr. Florea, 68, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 4, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO.  Born July 8, 1950 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of William Everett and Delberta Janette Brocksmith Florea.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from June 16, 1970 until he was honorably discharged on January 17, 1972.  During his military service, he tested parachutes.  Jim worked for many years as a carpenter for Fixture Contracting in St. Louis, retiring in 2009.  He was a member of the Wentzville Carpenters Union Local #32.  Jim was united in marriage to Cynthia Jane Buehrer.  He continued to enjoy parachuting recreationally, which led to his interest in owning Powered Parachute Planes.  He was a member of CRAPPA (Central River Area Powered Parachute Association).  He was a former Drag Racer and in recent years, was an avid NASCAR enthusiast – traveling to many races across the country.  He was especially proud of his homemade “Trike”.

           
He was preceded in death by his father, William Everett “Bill” Florea; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Florea.

           
Survivors include his beloved wife, Cindy Florea of Winfield; one son, L. James William Florea and his wife, Kerry, of St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren: Jackson James, Parker William and Taylor Karla Florea, all of St. Charles; three step-daughters:  Tammy Redwine and her husband, Jim, of Independence, MO, Shannon Mangrum Zamarripa of Florissant, MO, and Marianne Mangrum of St. Louis; and two step-grandchildren: Dale Sisco and Kyle Redwine of Independence.  Jim also leaves his mother, Delberta “Debbie” Florea of Hazelwood; one brother, Eugene “Gene” Florea of Florissant; two sisters:  Victoria “Vicky” Weibel, and her husband, Al, of Oakville, MO, and Audrey Florea of Hazelwood; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

           
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.  Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home , 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
