Obituary of Lynn Marie Hobby

Memorial Services for Lynn Marie Hobby of Foley, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.  Rev, Greg Ryske, of Community Presbyterian Church in Mt. Prospect, IL, will officiate.

           
Mrs. Hobby, 70, passed away Saturday night, August 25, 2018 at her home.  Born June 30, 1948 in Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of Everett and Lois Pierson Nelson.  She was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School; and attended college at Wheaton Academy and Florissant Valley Community College.  Lynn was united in marriage on December 29, 1978 in Powder Springs, GA to Charles Wayne “Chuck” Hobby.  Their home was blessed with four children: Scott, Cory, Ashley and Mandy.  Lynn owned and operated Corywood Kennels where she was a dog breeder and trainer until her retirement on October 1, 2000.  Because of her love for animals, Lynn was a member of several organizations including: North American Work Dog Association and the National Narcotic Detection Dogs.  She also worked with the FBI, DEA and the K-9 offices in both Lincoln County and Mount Prospect.  Lynn was the co-founder of P.A.L.S. 

           
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Lois Nelson; one brother, Ronald “Doc” Nelson; and one sister, Bonnie Chase.

           
Survivors include her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, Chuck Hobby, of Foley; four children: Scott Brenneman and his wife, Laurie, of Marquette, MI, Cory Thomas of Tempe, AZ, Ashley Hobby of Maryland Heights, MO and Mandy Hobby of Powder Springs, GA; and one grandson, Drake Brenneman.  Lynn also leaves two sisters: Phyllis Wolf and her husband, Harry, of Cochrane, Alberta, Canada and Laura Brown and her husband, Brad, of Atlanta, GA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
