Obituary of Arlon Otto Fowler

Funeral Services for Arlon Otto Fowler of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry.  Rev. Micah Fowler, Rev. John Zellmer and Rev. Stephen McLane will officiate.  Full Military Honors will follow.


Mr. Fowler, 77, passed away Sunday night, August 12, 2018 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital Audrain in Mexico, MO.  Born July 13, 1941 in Fort Payne, AL, he was the son of Arvin “Arvie” and Eula Stiefel Fowler.  Arlon received his Associate Degree in Business from Monatery Peninsula College.  He served his country in the United States Army from July 22, 1964 until he was honorably discharged on June 30, 1984, earning the rank of Master Sergeant.  Arlon was united in marriage on July 2, 1976 in Ozark, AL to Sheryl Lynn Wood.  Their home was blessed with seven children: Joshah, Micah, Robben, Richard, Karry, Jacki and Kelly.  Arlon worked as an Inspector for McDonnell Douglas, retiring in 1993.  He was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church.


Arlon was preceded in death by his parents, Arvie and Eula Fowler; two brothers: Eldon Fowler and Elmer Fowler; and one sister, Ivalene Smith.


Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 42 years, Sheryl Fowler of Elsberry; seven children: Joshah Fowler and his wife, Jennifer, of Yuma, AZ, Micah Fowler and his wife, BreAnna of Costa Rica, Robben Fowler and his wife, MaryKay, of St. Charles, MO, Richard Fowler of Florida, Karry Holmes-Fortin and her husband, Jean Guy, of Dothan, AL, Jacki Reed and her husband, John, of California and Kelly Mueller and her husband, Charles, of Texas; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth for Christ in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
