Obituary of John Thomas Ambrose, Jr.

Funeral Services for John Thomas Ambrose, Jr. of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.  Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of First Baptist Church of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers wil be Mark Ambrose, John Ambrose, Peyton Ambrose, Abbi Ambrose, Zach Bryan and Rich Hemmer.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Johnson and Ray Kemp.

           
Mr. Ambrose, 74, passed away Thursday evening, August 9, 2018 at St. Peters Manor in St. Peters, MO.  Born July 24, 1944 in Boonville, MO, he was the son of John Thomas and Ruth Alene Davis Ambrose, Sr.  John was a graduate of New Franklin High School.  John was united in marriage on September 3, 1966 in Elsberry, MO to Connie Jean Whiteside.  This union was blessed with two sons: John Thomas III and Mark Joseph.  John was a former employee of Hussman Refrigeration, the Dock Supervisor for Famous Barr; and drove a School Bus for the Lincoln County R-IV School District for several years.  John was the former Mayor of Foley, MO and a former volunteer for the Winfield-Foley Fire Department.  John worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Lincoln County for a number of years.

           
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Ambrose, Sr.; and his great-grandson, Maverick Ambrose-Becker.

           
Survivors include two sons: John Thomas Ambrose III of Winfield and Mark Joseph Ambrose and his wife, Jessie, of Moscow Mills, MO; four grandchildren: Peyton Ambrose, Paige Thomas, Abbi Ambrose and Josie Ambrose; and two great-grandchildren: Bentley Mann and McKenleigh Colvin.  John also leaves his former wife, Connie Ambrose of Elsberry; his former father-in-law, Dick Whiteside of Foley, MO; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.  Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home , 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
