Obituary of Martin Austin Green
Funeral Services for Martin Austin “Marty” Green of St. Paul, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Floyd Gudde, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, will officiate with entombment in the Elsberry City Cemetery Mausoleum near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Morrissey, Tim Morrissey, Brian Ray, Russ Henke, Steve Sharpe, Scott Kottmann, Pat Martin and Bill Green.
Mr. Green, 84, passed away early Sunday morning, July 15, 2018 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born November 29, 1933 in Malta Bend, MO, he was the son of Orda Lee and Ruth Mae Gauldin Green. Marty served his country in the United States Air Force and later the Air Force Reserves. He was united in marriage on May 29, 1955 in LaPlata, MO to Muriel Paap. This union was blessed with five children: Bob, Terry, Lissa and twins: Mardee Jo and Michael Lee. Marty worked as the Director of Manufacturing Engineering for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, retiring in 1993. He was a former City of Elsberry Alderman and a Former Commander of American Legion Post #226 where he was a 61 year member. Marty was a longtime member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Orda and Ruth Green; his mother-in-law, Gladys Lewis; twin children: Mardee Jo and Michael Lee Green; three brothers: Orda, Robert and William Green; one sister, Ida Green, who died as a child; and two sisters-in-law: Pat Green and Carole Brown.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Muriel Green of St. Paul; three children: Bob Green and his wife, Judy, of Elsberry, Terry Green of St. Paul and Lissa Morrissey, also of St. Paul; four grandchildren: Jenna Leigh Morrissey, Joseph Martin Morrissey, Renee Hatcher and Carol Martin; and four great-grandchildren. Marty also leaves one brother-in-law, John Carlyle of Coal Valley, IL; one sister-in-law, Cookie Ray and her husband, Billy, of Elsberry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Elsberry United Methodist Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
