Obituary of Robert Henry Forbeck
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Henry Forbeck of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Himmel, David Himmel, Chris Piel, Ryan Piel, Justin Forbeck and Marc Benavidez.
Mr. Forbeck, 94, passed away late Saturday night, May 19, 2018 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy, MO. Born October 8, 1923 in Old Monroe, he was the son of Anton and Mary Eggering Forbeck. Robert served his country in the United States Army from September 15, 1944 until his honorable discharge on November 1, 1946. Robert was united in marriage on February 12, 1944 in Old Monroe to Leona Ida Uthe. This union was blessed with six children: Dorothy, James, Delmar, Norma, Dennis and Darrell. Robert worked on the farm with his brother, Alphonse, before and during several jobs off the farm. He worked as a sheetmetal worker for McDonnell Douglas, retiring in 1988; and was a member of I.A.M District #837. Robert enjoyed camping and was a member of the Starcraft Camping Club. He was a faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Mary Forbeck; two brothers: Albert and Alphonse Forbeck; and one sister, Helen Schneider.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 74 years, Leona Forbeck of Old Monroe; their children: Dorothy Himmel and her husband, Marvin, of Moscow Mills, MO, James Forbeck and his companion, Paulette, of Old Monroe, Delmar Forbeck and his wife, Barbara, of Troy, Norma Luck and her husband, Lyn, of Troy, Dennis Forbeck and his wife, Sharon, of McDonald, TN and Darrell Forbeck and his wife, Lori, of Troy; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. Robert also leaves one sister, Catherine Hakenwerth of Wentzville, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
