Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes Phone 573-898-2181 / Fax 573-898-3148 Newspaper Notice of Death Virginia Oranda Surls Funeral services for Virginia Oranda Surls of Winfield, MO, were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield Baptist Church, officiated with burial in the Bellflower Cemetery in Bellflower, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Williams, Richie Williams, B.J. Williams, Timothy Rainwater, Vollie Surls and T.J. Hotchkiss. Mrs. Surls, 90, passed away late Thursday evening, May 4, 2006 near Moscow Mills, MO. Born August 6, 1915 in Bellflower, MO, she was the daughter of the late Oscar D. and Helene Maria Begeman Clark. She was a 1932 graduate of Bellflower High School. She was united in marriage on December 10, 1932 in Middletown, MO to David C. Surls. This union was blessed with four sons: Clarence, Gene, Dean and Lloyd. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Helene Clark; one son, Lloyd Surls, who passed away in 1996; two brothers: Oscar Clark and Charlie Clark; three sisters: Clara Belle Clark, Marie Clark and Maxine Clark; and her beloved husband of 62 years, David C. Surls, who passed away July 9, 1995. Survivors include three sons: Clarence Surls and his wife, Helen, of Moscow Mills, MO, Gene Surls and his wife, June, of Fortuna, MO and Dean Surls and his wife, Grace, of Mount Vernon, MO; one daughter-in-law, Faye Surls of Winfield, MO; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
