Obituary of Kenneth Krieg Bals
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Krieg Bals of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Bash, Matthew Bals, Jason Bals, Brian Reller, Craig Bals and Kyle Bals.
Mr. Bals, 80, passed away Friday night, January 12, 2018 at his home in Old Monroe. Born September 4, 1937 near Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Hilary William and Hattie Norene Krieg Bals. He was a 1955 graduate of Winfield High School. Kenny was united in marriage on November 14, 1959 in Old Monroe to Leona Alma Bothe. This union was blessed with five children: Karen, Randy, David, Debbie and Danny. He worked as a carpenter for Eugene Cokley Construction, Schaeffer Bros Construction and Bob Schulte Construction and was a member of Carpenters Local #32 in Wentzville, MO. Kenny also farmed and was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Hilary and Hattie Bals; one brother-in-law, Hilary Burkemper.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Leona Bals of Old Monroe; their children: Karen Bash and her husband, Mike, of Winfield, MO, Randy Bals and his wife, Paula, of Old Monroe, David Bals and his wife, Julie, of Old Monroe, Debbie Reller and her husband, Donnie, of Old Monroe and Danny Bals and his wife, Angel, of Old Monroe; and 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Kenny also leaves one brother, Larry Bals and his wife, Carolyn, of Old Monroe; one sister, Wilma Burkemper of Troy, MO; one brother-in-law, Robert Bothe, and his wife, Ava, of Winfield, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the I.C. Building Fund in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, PO Box 253; 3838 East Highway 47; Winfield, MO 63389.
