Obituary of Joyce Ann Davis

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce Ann Davis of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry.  Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry.  Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Kevin Davis, Ethan Davis, Jon Davis, Scott Grist, Richard Davis and Louis Davis.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kait Semon and Kelli Semon.

Mrs. Davis, 79, passed away Friday morning, September 29, 2017 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO.  Born January 20, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Richard Joseph and Harriet Agnes Raney Hartigan.  Joyce was united in marriage on June 2, 1956 in Elsberry to Curtis Louis Davis, Sr.  This union was blessed with four children: Louis, Catherine Carol, Debra Ann and Richard Okla.  With a love for sewing, Joyce worked as a seamstress for the Garment Factory, Bobbin-A-Long and Carol’s Custom Curtains.  Joyce also drove a school bus for the Lincoln County R-II School District and for OATS.  She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Harriet Hartigan; and her beloved husband of nearly 47 years, Curtis Davis, Sr., who died May 28, 2003.

Survivors include her children: Louis Davis and his wife, Rosa, of Winfield, MO, Catherine Grist of Sugarland, TX, Debra Semon and her husband, Ron of Minneapolis, MN and Richard Davis and his fiance, Serina, of Elsberry; and seven grandchildren: Christopher and Kevin Davis, Kait and Kelli Semon, Scott Grist and Ethan and Jonathan Davis.  Joyce also leaves one sister, Carol Watkins and her husband, Bennie, of Elsberry; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.  Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
