Michael McDowell, Executive Director, The Soldiers Project posted a condolence
Tuesday, September 5, 2017
It is with great sadness that I recently received word of your son Blake's passing today in your letter to our headquarters here in Los Angeles. I am humbled by its words and the kind donation that was earmarked to The Soldiers Project to help others who have, without a doubt, been a casualty of the Hidden Wounds of War. No words of mine can begin to soften the blow that has struck your family, but I hope you will have a sense of peace knowing that we are committed to change the game for my brothers and sister veterans and their families who have been seeking free, confidential, and unlimited mental and behavioral health support. I too, have been affected by these hidden wounds as a Marine officer who has deployed six times. As the Executive Director, I am committed to doing everything possible to support our warriors in their time of need. Please reach out if you feel comfortable, and the time is right. I would like to personally meet you. May God bless you and keep you during this difficult time. Semper fidelis.

I knew Blake for years even though we werent close, my sister thought of him as a son. The times when our paths crossed he was always quick to laugh and had a great and contagious smile. He will be missed by many, the world seems lesser without him in it.

I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. I will ALWAYS remember coming back from OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/STORM and going to visit his elementary class. When we had a picture taken of the visit with the entire class, Blake was sitting right next to me. He had his hand on my leg the entire time...SPECIAL! God Bless You.

It seems that Blake spent half of his childhood in our midst. He was like a brother to Kyle, and he is taking this loss very hard. Lots of tears have been shed by we Steavenson's. Kyle has vowed to keep Blake's memory alive for Shane and we are very proud of his commitment to Shane.
Duck and I send our heartfelt love, sympathy and prayer. I can't imagine your pain. It will be hard not to be able to say our good bye's but we respect your decision for a private service.
Much love
Brigitte and Duck

Kyle and Blake were lifelong friends. Kyle made a promise at Shane's birth that he would teach Shane how to play football. I have no doubt that he won’t fulfill that promise and in that, Blake will live on. While they weren't technically brothers, they were brothers. Our hearts are broken. Peace to all who knew and loved Blake.

To my family who I love so much, Lynn, Donnie, Mom, Dad and everyone else I had a mutual pleasure of knowing through Blake. He will always be my nephew who as I look at photos never smiled when he was young especially in Aunt Chris and Uncle Kenny's wedding, what a beautiful soul! Uncle Kenny and Aunt Chris love you very much! This is not a goodbye but a 'see ya later' to talk about old times, better times, family fun, birthday party get together's, holiday shenanigans, drinking the latest and greatest microbrew, talks about da Broncos, hugs from the tallest nephew EVER! I will miss your smile, your laugh the love you have for all of us and especially your son Shane. We will all be a part of your life forever and ever - FLY high Blakester !
Hugs from Uncle Ken, Crazy Aunt Chris, cousins Josh, Chad, and Kylee.
