Obituary of Madeline Ann Kelly
A Mass of Christian Burial for Madeline Ann Kelly of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church priest, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Mrs. Kelly, 99, in her 100th year, passed away early Friday morning, May 26, 2017. Born October 4, 1917 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of Frank C. and Mary Bals Pieper. Madeline was united in marriage on November 19, 1938 in Old Monroe to Leora Curtis Kelly. This union was blessed with two children: Jerry and Norma. Madeline was a loving mother and wife, who loved to cook for her family and the Mallard Duck Club. She had a passion for music and enjoyed embroidery, cross-stitching and quilting. Madeline loved caring for her flowers and keeping her yard pristine. She often volunteered at school, took care of the family and friends. Madeline was a member of the Missouri Extension Club and was a 4-H Leader for many years. Madeline was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Alter Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Pieper; three brothers: George Pieper and his wife, Frances, Clem Pieper and his wife, Ruth, and Norman “Red” Pieper and his wife, Mary Ann; four sisters: Rose Johannesman and her husband, Henry, Eleanor Mensie and her husband, Andrew “Dutch”, Blanche Wilke and her husband, Clarence “Buck”, and Grace Pieper; and her beloved husband of 63 years, Leora Curtis Kelly, who died on March 24, 2002.
Survivors include her children: Jerry Kelly and his wife, Janet, of St. Charles, MO and Norma Padella and her husband, Robert “Bob”, of Winfield, MO; four grandchildren: Jill Miles and her husband, Steve, Cindy Padella, Sarah Morehouse and her husband, Troy, and Michael Padella; and five great-grandchildren: Amanda, Brandon, Sam, Maggie and Max. Madeline also leaves two brothers: Jim Pieper and his wife, Joan, of Old Monroe and Leonard Pieper and his wife, Jane, of Troy, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield and again on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 9:00 a.m until the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Monroe.
