I am so incredibly sorry I didn't reach out sooner. i really loved 'KAT'. She was my first sponser in recovery. i lived with her and Jim jaeger in the 70's. She taught me so much. My daughter who is now a trauma surgeon is relocating to Wash U and i wanted to let kat know. She was a great lady. A true real authentic person. I have thought of her and jim often. they obviously divorced. Much love and sympathy to your family Kat. You literally saved my life. will always love you. I still wonder how my life would have been had I stayed in St Louis rather than going back to South Dakota. Peace always, Vicki

Dear Shane, Dustin, and family,
I am so sorry that these condolences are so late in getting to you. We are your cousins in Porterville and we just recently heard the sad news of your mother's passing. We were quite shocked at the news. My father, Jim Howell, who is 95, my brother Travis and my sister Dianne all want to express are deep sympathy and let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have such great memories of talking with your grandmother, Mary Leon, and keeping up to date on you both as you grew up. I'm sorry that since her passing we have lost that close connection.
Could you please let me know a good shelter to send a memorial to. Also, I want to let you know that if you ever want to talk about the building downtown and things that are going in in downtown, I would be more then happy to speak with you. I was the Main Street Project Manager in the 1980's and then worked for the Community Development Department for the City for many years. I hope you might come visit sometime and we can give you a tour and talk about our relatives!
Again, our deepest sympathy and God's blessings to all of you.

I just learned of Kat's death on Facebook. It was a shock to say the least. She was my first sponsor in my recovery program and provided me with a great example of what a friend really is. I just texted with her on April 2 and she was ill with shingles. I will miss her terribly along with her total love of Norm and all the puppies. My sincere condolences to Norm, Shane and Dustin.
Mike (also known to the boys as "Smirk").
