Obituary of James Peter Rothermich

A Mass of Christian Burial for James Peter Rothermich of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Rothermich, Michael Rothermich, Wade Rothermich, Ryan Mueller, Derek Rothermich and Tyson Rothermich. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Rothermich, Eric Rothermich, Shane Rothermich and Seth Rothermich. Mr. Rothermich, 83, passed away Monday afternoon, March 13, 2017 at Mt. Carmel in O’Fallon, MO. Born August 1, 1933 in Josephville, MO, he was the son of Edwin and Veronica Wilmes Rothermich. James was a 1952 graduate of Wentzville High School. He served his country in the United States Army. James was united in marriage on October 27, 1956 in Old Monroe to Shirley Jane Wehde. This union was blessed with eight children: Brian, Dale, Faye, Dennis, Ed, Dave, Gerald and Donna. James worked in maintenance for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft, retiring in 1993. He was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Veronica Rothermich; and one sister, Mary Rippeto. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Rothermich of Old Monroe; their children: Brian Rothermich and his wife, Mindy, of St. Peters, MO, Dale Rothermich and his wife, Denise, of O’Fallon, Faye Mueller and her husband, Darrell, of O’Fallon, Dennis Rothermich of Troy, MO, Ed Rothermich and his wife, Dianne, of Silex, MO, Dave Rothermich and his wife, Nichole, of Troy, Gerald “Buzz” Rothermich and his wife, Michelle, of Old Monroe, and Donna Reed and her husband, Jasen, also of Old Monroe; twenty-six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. James also leaves one brother, Gilbert Rothermich and his wife, Dorothy, of Wentzville, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
