Obituary of Richard Schofield Evans
Full Military Honors for Richard Schofield Evans of Foley, MO will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. A Memorial Service for Mr. Evans will be at 6:00 p.m. Rev. James Skinner will officiate.
Mr. Evans, 89, passed away Tuesday morning, February 28, 2017 at his home. Born August 18, 1927 in Alton, IL, he was the son of John Corbley and Lillian Belle VanLoon Evans, Jr. Richard was a graduate of Alton Sr. High School and went on to receive an Electrician Certificate. Richard served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage on May 24, 1980 in Moro, IL to Bonnie Sue Davenport. Richard was employed for many years as an electrician for Missouri Portland Cement and later as the Electrical Supervisor at Associate Electric where he retired in 1992. He was a member of VFW Post #9064 in Elsberry and of the Lincoln County Old Threshers Board. Richard was a wheel horse collector and could be found tinkering with tractors.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Evans, Jr.; one daughter, Lisa Pruitt; one grandson, Patrick Schmoeller; one stepson, James Morehead; and two brothers: John C. Evans III and Philip V. Evans.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years, Bonnie Evans of Foley; four children: Linda Phillips and her husband, Gary, of Rockford, IL, Richard Evans, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Naperville, IL, Kathleen Schmoeller of Godfrey, IL and Laura Gray and her husband, Michael, of San Diego, CA; one step-son, Lester “Keith” Morehead of St. Charles, MO; two stepdaughters: Marilyn Rose and her husband, Robert, of Marine, IL and Laurie Smithson and her husband, Michael, of Columbus, GA; ten grandchildren, six step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Richard also leaves nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
