Obituary of Richard Ronda East

Memorial Services for Richard Ronda “Ron” East of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Fr. Richard Rath, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe, will officiate with inurnment in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Mr. East, 70, passed away Tuesday evening, February 28, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born August 30, 1946 in Winfield, he was the son of Richard Thomas and Lona Shafer East. He served his country in the United States Army with active service in the Vietnam War from June 16, 1966 until he was honorably discharged on March 20, 1968. He was united in marriage on August 17, 1968 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church to Virginia Mae Burkemper. This union was blessed with three children: Jason, Jessica and Jordan. Ron worked as a Medical Technologist for St. Louis County Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. Ron could often be found spoiling his grandkids and driving the golf cart. He loved Cardinals baseball and shopping on Amazon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lona East; and one brother-in-law, David Jones. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Virginia East of Old Monroe; one son, Jason East and his wife, Christina, also of Old Monroe; two daughters: Jessica Wehde and her husband, David, of Winfield and Jordan Martin and her husband, Nick, of Troy, MO; and seven grandchildren: Austin and Sophia East, Audrey and Mitchell Wehde, and Camille, Cooper and Cora Martin. Ron also leaves one brother Ronald “Dean” East and his wife, Joan, of St. Augustine, FL; one sister, Loyce Jones of Ellisville, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
