Obituary of Hilda Loretta Adams
Funeral Services for Hilda Loretta Adams of Foley, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Scott Groshong, pastor of the Corinth Christian Church, will officiate with burial in St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Adams, 87, passed away Monday afternoon, February 27, 2017 at Alexian Brothers in St. Louis, MO. Born January 1, 1930 in Marion, IL, she was the daughter of Ernest Bless and Agnes Victoria Kirby Cox. Loretta graduated high school in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was united in marriage on June 30, 1960 in St. Louis to John Lloyd Adams. Their home was blessed with four children: Steve, Mike, Brenda and Diane. In her early years, Loretta worked in garment factories in Poplar Bluff and Troy, MO. She later worked as an Agriculture Surveyor for the U.S.D.A. Loretta also worked as a Dispatcher for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, retiring in 2002. Loretta was a former member and Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter #405 in Troy, MO. She was also a past Missouri District Deputy Grand Matron twice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Agnes Cox; her beloved husband of 50 years, John L. Adams, who died November 2, 2010; two sons: Steve Sliger and Mike Adams; one grandson, Timmy Sliger; her brother, Wendell D. Cox; and her sister, Lila Faye Hicks.
Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Morton and her husband, Dean, of St. Louis and Diane Adams of Foley; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Loretta also leaves other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
