Obituary of Gerald Alden Hansen
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald Alden Hansen of Moscow Mills, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe, MO. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt of St. Peters Church in St. Louis, MO and Fr. Richard Rath of Immaculate Conception Church will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Masterson, Kevin Hansen, Jarrod Finder, Eric Hansen, Brandon Hansen and Bob Missey.
Mr. Hansen, 86, passed away Monday morning, January 30, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born June 12, 1930 in Centralia, IL, he was the son of William Nils and Faye Ella Rittenhouse Hansen. Gerald served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He served 3 years on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard and 1 year on the USS Haven Hospital Ship. Gerald was united in marriage on September 26, 1953 in Long Beach, CA to Betty Kathleen Missey. This union was blessed with two children: Scott Alden and Tina Marie. Gerald worked as the Production Manager for Rexall Drug Company and later for Everware, Inc., where he worked part-time, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union and of American Legion Post #420 in Old Monroe. Living in the Moscow Mills area for over 31 years, Gerald loved hunting, camping, watching his six grandkids grow and his hobby of raising cattle on their 20 acre place. Gerald was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Faye Hansen; one sister, Vesta Lavon; and two grandsons: Gabriel and Lucas Masterson.
Survivors include his “favorite” wife of 63 years, Betty Hansen of Moscow Mills; his “favorite” son, Scott Hansen and his wife, Margaret, of Moscow Mills; his “favorite” daughter, Tina Churchill and her husband, Timothy, of Warrenton, MO; four grandsons: Adam Masterson and his wife, Constance, Kevin Hansen, Jarrod Finder and Eric Hansen; and four great-grandkids: Tyler Joseph Masterson, Mark Alden Masterson, Roman David Masterson and Baylor Jordan Finder. Gerald also leaves one brother, Maurice N. Hansen and his wife, Bonnie, of Dana Point, CA; three sisters: Dicie P. Mueller and her husband, Rev. Herman Mueller, of Farmington, CT, Ruth A. Leibach of Creve Coeur, MO and Mary Lou Johnston and her husband, Dr. Glen Paul Johnston, of Naples, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital (or) Central Missouri Honor Flight in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
