Obituary of Joseph Mark Hogan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Mark Hogan of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Fr. Richard Rath, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Hogan, Jeffrey Tippit, John Hogan, Doug Weber, Russell Reed and Darrin Hillen. Mr. Hogan, 83, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016 at Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, MO. Born January 13, 1933 in Clarence, MO, he was the son of Mark Michael and Dorothy Elizabeth Loehner Hogan. Joe attended school in Clarence. He served his country in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged as a Tech Corporal. He then served in the Army Reserves for several more years, being discharged as Master Sergeant. Joe was united in marriage on June 18, 1960 in Old Monroe to Jean Marie Kaiman. This union was blessed with six children: William, Daniel, Timothy, Tricia, Mark and Kathy. Joe worked for many years in the lumber yard industry including: BF Dobbins Lumber, Kaplan Lumber, O’Fallon Lumber, Dulin Harrell Lumber, and as manager of RP Lumber where he retired in 1998. He was also self-employed doing lawn maintenance until 2016. Joe was a Lifetime Member of VFW Post #8177 in Clarence and a Lifetime Member of Knights of Columbus Council #2241 in Shelbina, MO. He was an area Junior High and High School Basketball Referee for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Joe was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Dorothy Hogan; one brother, Edward Hogan; two sisters: Mary Butner and Teresa Hogan; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Kay Reed, on October 20, 2010. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Hogan of Old Monroe; four sons: William Hogan and his wife, Lisa, of O’Fallon, Dan Hogan and his wife, Kate, of Old Monroe, Tim Hogan and his wife, Sandy of Moscow Mills, MO and Mark Hogan and his wife, Lisa, of St. Louis County, MO; and two daughters: Tricia Weber and her husband, Doug, of Moscow Mills, and Kathy Reed and her husband, Russ, of Winfield, MO. Joe also leaves fifteen grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
