Obituary of Floyd Lorenz

Funeral Services for Floyd Lorenz of Elsberry, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sam Byers, pastor of the Elsberry First Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Gooding, Matt Hartley, Mike Hartley, Dean Tapley, Jesse Wilson and Ron Vaughn; and honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Holley and Richard Evans. Mr. Lorenz, 96, passed away Friday evening, April 1, 2016 at Sugar Creek Assisted Living in Troy, MO. Born March 15, 1920 on the family farm west of Elsberry in Lincoln County, MO, he was the son of William Frederick and Sina Lee Page Lorenz. He attended New Hope School and White Swan School. Floyd was united in marriage on November 27, 1958 in Bowling Green, MO to Frances Arlene Whiteside. He was a farmer most of his life and was self-employed as a small engine mechanic for many years. Floyd was a member of the Lincoln County Old Threshers Association. He was an active member and usher of the Elsberry First Baptist Church. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Fred (1964) and Sina (1989) Lorenz; one sister, Anna May Lorenz (1991); and his beloved wife of 39 years, Frances Lorenz who died March 23, 1998. Survivors include several cousins, other relatives and many friends. Never having children of their own, Floyd and Frances claimed Keith and Judy Palmer of Elsberry as their “family”. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
