Obituary of Ray D. Hankey

Ray Dean Hankey Private graveside services for Ray Dean Hankey of Paynesville, MO, will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home officiated with burial in Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis. Arrangements were handled by Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Mr. Hankey, 76, died early Sunday morning, August 28, 2005 at his residence in Paynesville, MO. Born November 26, 1928 in Amorita, Oklahoma, he was the son of Floyd Winans and Bertha Anna Alexander Hankey. He graduated from Amorita High School in 1946. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from September 10, 1948 until June 4, 1963. Mr. Hankey was employed as a U.S. Postal Service Clerk in Maryland Heights, MO until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Bertha Hankey. Survivors include two sons: Alan Hankey and his wife, Kimberly, of Helena, OK and Steve Hankey and his wife, Melinda, of Seattle, WA; one brother, Darrell Hankey and his wife, Verla, of Amorita, OK; two sisters: RoWena Gregg and Janet McCafferty and her husband, Tim; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ray also leaves behind special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Capps and Rosemary Capps of Eolia, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
