Obituary of Charlotte Ann Nies

Funeral Services for Charlotte Ann Nies of St. Louis County, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Burial will be in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Ms. Nies, 78, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, MO. Born December 28, 1937 in Blackjack, MO, she was the daughter of Herron William and Margaret L. Wakeland Reed. She was a 1956 graduate of Elsberry High School. She attended Community College for one year. Charlotte was united in marriage to Edwin Nies. This union was blessed with one daughter, Cheryl Yvonne. Charlotte was employed as the Accounts Receivable Clerk for HBE Corporation for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1999. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, especially working with her flowers and tomatoes. She also loved to crochet and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herron and Margaret Reed; one sister, Rose Dickmeyer; and one brother, Harold Reed. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Nies of Villa Ridge, MO; and one brother, Gilbert Reed and his wife, Delores, of Troy, MO. Charlotte also leaves nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
