Obituary of Lorene Marie Ethington

Funeral Services for Lorene Marie Ethington of Troy, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Troy. Rev. Rich Rea, church pastor, and Rev. Mike Larson, Minister of Education at First Baptist Church of Troy, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be James Ethington, Chris Rambaud, Jon Rambaud, Travis McElroy, Bob Strassemeier and Ronnie Sitton. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Gary Ethington. Mrs. Ethington, 82, passed away Sunday morning, January 3, 2016 at Troy Manor in Troy. Born May 14, 1933 in Old Monroe, MO, she was the daughter of Gustav H. and Bernice J. Hoecker Dickmeyer. Lorene was united in marriage on July 15, 1950 in Old Monroe to Harold T. Ethington. This union was blessed with three children: Alan, Mitchell and Joyce. She worked as a medical secretary for Lincoln County Memorial Hospital (now Mercy Hospital Lincoln), retiring in 1994. Lorene was a member of Troy Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Bernice Dickmeyer; one brother, Edward Dickmeyer; one sister, Edna Parsons; and one son, Alan Ethington, who died January 21, 2015. Survivors include her beloved husband, Harold Ethington of Troy; one son, Mitchell Ethington and his wife, Janet, of Troy; one daughter, Joyce Rambaud and her husband, Alan, of Troy; five grandchildren: Kelly, Chris, James, Jon and Megan; and three great-grandchildren: Pacer, Paisley and Vincent. Lorene also leaves one sister, Dottie Ethington of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
