Obituary of Ella Louise Henke

Graveside Services for Ella Louise Henke of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, MO. Rev. Keith Wachter, pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in O'Fallon, MO will officiate. Mrs. Henke, 84, passed away Thursday night, December 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital-West in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born November 18, 1931 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Alfred J. and Marie Mueller Metter. Ella graduated from High School in 1949 and earned her LPN certification. She was united in marriage on June 7, 1967 in Old Monroe to Raymond M. Henke. This union was blessed with two children: Mark and Connie. She was employed for 28 years as a housekeeper at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy, retiring in July 2013. Ella was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in O'Fallon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Marie Metter; two sisters: Betty Jean Metter and Shirley May Metter; one step-son, Bob Henke; and her beloved husband of almost thirteen years, Ray Henke, who died in May 1980. Survivors include one son, Mark Henke and his wife, Shannon, of Springdale, AR; one daughter, Connie Henke of Old Monroe; five step-sons: Tom Henke and his wife, Linda, Wayne Henke and his wife, Dottie, Rick Henke, Jim Henke and his wife, Nancy, and Ronnie Henke and his wife, Donna; and two step-daughters: Pat Eck and her husband, Frank, and Peg Spencer. She also leaves three grandchildren: Christian Henke, T.J. Henke and Grayson Henke; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
