Obituary of Robert Lee Lilley
Funeral Services for Robert Lee Lilley of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Bob Norvel, pastor of the Annada Community Christian Church, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Lilley, Robert Lilley, Brad Lilley, Trevor Lilley, Kenny Pund and Chris Campana; and honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Lilley.
Mr. Lilley, 82, passed away Friday afternoon, November 13, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis, MO. Born May 18, 1933 in Elsberry, MO, he was the son of Joseph Alonzo and Hattie Anne Meyer Lilley. He was a 1951 graduate of San Jose High School in San Jose, IL. Retired military, he served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War in the U.S. Air Force from February 6, 1952 until he was honorably discharged on February 29, 1972. He earned his Associates Degree through the Community College of the Air Force; and after 20 years of service, retired as a Technical Sergeant. Robert was united in marriage on March 25, 1970 in Winfield to Norma Louise Herring. This union was blessed with one daughter, Melissa Anne. After he retired from the Air Force, he worked for General Electric and Westinghouse in their electronics divisions. He was later employed for a number of years by the Everest & Jennings Wheelchair Co. in St. Louis. He was a member of the American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry for 42 years. Robert was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church near Winfield. He enjoyed golf and bowling, and was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hattie Lilley; and an infant sister, Mary Jo Lilley.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Norma Lilley of Winfield; three sons: Darrell Lynn Lilley and his wife, Janice, of Thief River Falls, MN, Robert Joseph Lilley and his wife, Betty, of Rocky Mount, MO, and Kenneth Edward Lilley of Williams, MN; one daughter, Melissa Anne Lilley-Hiatt and her husband, Robert Edward, of Winfield; seven grandchildren: Kyle Lilley, Samuel Lilley, Robert Lilley II, Trevor Lilley, Bradley Lilley, Dylan Hiatt and Allyson Hiatt; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Clarence Raymond Lilley of Elsberry and John Richard Lilley and his wife, Yolonda, of Elsberry; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
