Obituary of Gene Anthony Loness
Funeral Services for Gene Anthony “Gus” Loness of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann, MO. Rev. Allen Calkins and Rev. Raymond Doussard will officiate with burial in Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Dowell, Jeff Claspill, Dave Daman, Mark Soehngen, Joe Soehngen and Bob Copeland; and honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Loness, Donnie Loness, Larry Davis, Steve Mitchell, Bill Yokel, Sky Walkenhurst, Donnie Kinsler, Greg Pohlman, Darryl Sandwig, Troy Pohlman, Wayne Grothoff, Jim Boone, Charlie Boone, Bob Moran, Max Colliers, Mike Fagris, Joe Wilkins, YoYo Collins, JR Copeland, Dave Linhoff, Eugene Wall, Gerald Heras and Nick Nibert.
Mr. Loness, 66, passed away Sunday evening, October 25, 2015 at his home near Elsberry. Born September 20, 1949 in Perryville, MO, he was the son of John Omar and Alfreida Marcella Vinson Loness. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Coast Guard. Working with his Dad in the early years, he owned and operated H & M Machine Service, Inc. in Maryland Heights, MO for 47 years.
Gus was united in marriage on May 8, 1996 at Silver Dollar City near Branson, MO to Wendy G. Winner Day. He was a charter member of Elsberry Lions Club. Gus was an active member and trustee of the Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alfreida Loness; one brother, John Loness and one sister, Kathy (Loness) Kaiser.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 19 years, Wendy Loness of Elsberry; two daughters: Michelle Cook and her husband, Chris, of Torrington, CT, and Sandra Cammarata and her husband, Scott, of St. Charles, MO; one son, Robert Day, of Midway, GA; and six grandchildren: Ryan, Katlyn, Ashlynn and Billy Cook, and Luke and Joe Cammarata. He also leaves one sister, Terry Blevins of Victoria, TX; one sister-in-law, Jeanneen Loness of Bridgeton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO; and Friday, October 30, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann, MO.
