Packett Graveside services for Frances Magdaline Packett of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois. Father Raul Salas will officiate. Members of Mrs. Packett's family will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are being handled through Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Mrs. Packett, 86, died Friday evening, September 30, 2005 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born January 3, 1919 in East St. Louis, IL, she was the daughter of George and Catherine Stimitz Soldmann. She was united in marriage in 1973 in East St. Louis to Billie Packett. She attended St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Caseyville, IL for many years. Besides her parents, George and Cahterine Soldmann, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Soldmann (who died as a child) and Mary Schutzenhoffer in 1988; one brother, Lawrence Soldmann; and her beloved husband of 15 years, Billie Packett, who died April 11, 1988. Survivors include one brother, Joseph Soldmann of St. Louis; one sister, Beatrice Morrisey of Vienna, MO; her niece and caretaker, Judith Owens and her husband, David, of Foley, MO; her great-niece, Denise Newton-Menckowski of Lake Saint Louis, MO; several other relatives and friends. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
