Obituary of Merlin Dale Beeghly
Funeral Services for Merlin Dale Beeghly of Bowling Green, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Elsberry United Methodist Church in Elsberry. Rev. Paul Garven, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Beeghly, John Beeghly, Christopher Beeghly, James Ford, Larry Beeghly and Lynn Beeghly. Loren Bowmen will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Beeghly, 76, passed away early Friday morning, October 9, 2015 at the home of his daughter. Born December 20, 1938 in Sabetha, KS he was the son of Glen and Sylvia Moore Beeghly. Dale was a graduate of Sabetha High School. He served his country in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged on February 24, 1964. Dale was united in marriage on March 16, 1961 in Norfolk, VA to Carol Ann Boley. This union was blessed with three children: Claud, Connita and Christopher. Dale worked in Data Security for McDonnell Douglas and later IBM. He was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Sylvia Beeghly; three brothers: Lester, Melvin and Gary Beeghly; and his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol Beeghly, who died March 26, 2011.
Survivors include two sons: Claud Beeghly of Dexter, MO and Christopher Beeghly of Bowling Green, MO; one daughter, Connita Ford and her husband, James, also of Bowling Green; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dale also leaves one brother, Donald Beeghly of Omaha, NE; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Parkinson Disease Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
