Obituary of Herman Oscar Mudd

A Memorial Mass for Herman Oscar Mudd of Elsberry, MO will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, will officiate. Mr. Mudd, 92, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2015 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born July 22, 1923 in Millwood, MO, he was the son of Olin and Mary Miller Mudd. Herman served his country in the United States Army from September 25, 1946 until he was honorably discharged on February 18, 1948 as a Corporal. He was united in marriage on November 30, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Lillian Louise Tinsley. This union was blessed with four children: Carol, David, Sue and Donna. Herman worked as a farmer for Champ Goodwood Farms, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he participated with the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents: Olin and Mary Mudd; his step-mother, Ruby Schuck-Mudd; two brothers: Cal Mudd and Pete Mudd; three sisters: Bernice Dwyer and her husband, Richard, Jeanette Johnson and her husband, Lloyd, and Rita Ashton and her husband, Walter; one brother-in-law, Dean Rohr; and his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Louise Mudd, who died August 29, 2009. Survivors include one son, David Mudd and his wife, Laurie, of Wentzville, MO; three daughters: Carol Elrod and her husband, Chuck, of Warrenton, MO, Sue Latham and her husband, Mick, of Winfield, MO and Donna Boedeker of Troy, MO; nine grandchildren: Jill Gronewald, Kelly King and her husband, Vernon, Coly Elrod and his wife, Claire, Seth Elrod and his wife, Erica, Valerie Elrod and her fiancé, John Lenhart, Matthew Mudd and his wife, Jackie, Adam Mudd and his wife, Brittany, Jason Boedeker and his wife, Jessica and Kyle Boedeker; and ten great-grandchildren: Abby Buehrle, Joe Buehrle, Avery Elrod, Lily Elrod, Kennedy Elrod, Reese Elrod, Hudson Mudd, Case Mudd, Kendyl Boedeker and Kenzie Boedeker. Herman also leaves two brothers: Leon Mudd and his wife, Elaine, of Moline, IL and Earl Schuck and his wife, Marge, of California; two sisters: Olean Rohr of O’Fallon, MO and Mary Agnes Wells and her husband, Wayne, of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until the time of Mass at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the Joseph R.
