Obituary of Richard Lee Hunter, Sr.

Funeral Services for Richard Lee “Rick” Hunter, Sr. of Elsberry, MO will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of Whiteside Holiness Church, Rev. Eloise Slaughter, assistant pastor of Silex Assembly of God Church, Preston Blackwell and Donnie Kinsler will officiate with burial in New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be James Webster, Henry LeRoy Hunter, John Rutledge, Jr., Donnie Kinsler, Matt Kinsler and Tyron Henderson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Charles Macafee Hunter, Ricardo Hunter, Joseph Gruenewald, Aaron Kinsler, Jerry Waggoner, Tim Collins, Frankie Hunter, John Hunter and Donnie Ray Kinsler, Jr. Mr. Hunter, 57, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, MO. Born June 15, 1957 in Troy, he was the son of Ezra Lee and Mary Wanetta Stillwell Hunter. He was united in marriage on April 24, 1993 in Elsberry, to Tina Green. Rick worked as a laborer and landscaper for Forrest Keeling Nursery, retiring after 30 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra Hunter; and his brother, Charles “Chan” Hunter. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Tina Hunter of Elsberry; three daughters: Dorthea Yates and her husband, Jeremy, of Wright City, MO, Christina Hunter of Lake St. Louis, MO and Carmen Green of Elsberry; five sons: Charles Hunter and his wife, Beth, of Troy, John Hunter of Wentzville, Richard Hunter, Jr. of Bowling Green, Ricardo Hunter of Elsberry and Joseph Gruenewald of Silex, MO; and sixteen grandchildren. Rick also leaves his mother, Mary Hunter-Parker of Elsberry; four sisters: Mary Preston, Ruby Irving, Bonnie Perkins and Phyllis Wyatt and her husband, Robert, all of Elsberry; six brothers: Henry LeRoy Hunter and his wife, Tina, of Elsberry, Johnnie Hunter of Flora, MO, Curtis D. Hunter, Ezra Allen Hunter and his wife, Curtissa, Jesse Louis Hunter and Billy Joe Hunter, all of Elsberry; his mother-in-law, Grace Green of Columbia, MO; four sisters-in-law: Bonnie Crumes of Troy, Merlin Green of Elsberry, Joyce Hunn and her husband, Wallace, of St. Charles, MO and Gloria Green of Foley, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Repass will immediately follow the committal service at the Elsberry Apostolic Pentecostal Church; 394 Lovelace Lane; Elsberry, MO 63343.
