Boedeker A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Alfreda Boedeker of Elsberry, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Robert Zinser, church pastor, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren: Jason Boedeker, Kyle Boedeker, Daniel Lauritzen, Brad Schnelle, Tracy Wilke, Amy Ingrassia, Leslie Hennemann and Erin Boedeker. Mrs. Boedeker, 77, died Friday morning, September 30, 2005 at her home near Elsberry. Born March 18, 1928 in Little Rock, AR, she was the daughter of Frank and Paula (nee Schmucki) Nelke. She was a 1936 graduate of Notre Dame High School in South St. Louis, MO. She was employed for a number of years as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. in St. Louis. She was united in marriage on August 4, 1951 in St. Louis to Anthony Joseph Boedeker, Jr. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Ladies Sodality in Elsberry. Mrs. Boedeker was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Paula Nelke; her step-mother, Lucille Nelke; her sister, Frances Ann Nelke; and one grandson, Adam Boaz in 1982. Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, Anthony "Tony" Boedeker, Jr. of Elsberry; three sons: Anthony Joseph "Joe" Boedeker, III and his wife, Donna, of Elsberry, Thomas Francis "Tom" Boedeker and his wife, Lori, of Elsberry, and David Paul Boedeker and his wife, Donna, also of Elsberry; four daughters: Marilyn Louise Colbert and her husband, Bill, of Winfield, MO, Kathie Ann Hennemann and her husband, Steve, of Omaha, NE, Christina Marie "Tina" Lauritzen and her husband, Terrance "Butch", of Sequim, WA, and Michele Gerard Schnelle and her husband, Steve, of Moon Township, PA; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. A Rosary Service was held at 7:00 p.m. during the visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Masses, the American Diabetes Association, the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
