One of the sweetest, kindest persons I have ever known. Roberta was always so upbeat, never once heard a ounce of complaint during all she was going through. She was always telling me what a trooper and inspiration I was and I'm sorry but Roberta YOU were the inspiration!!. I am so blessed to have known her and be her friend and "sister". She will be missed, but what a joy to be re-united with Errett and spend Christmas in Heaven with Jesus and his angels.. RIP Roberta.

Bert was my teacher for 1st grade and she instilled in me the greatest gift
a teacher can pass on to her students a special gift of learning and the
love of reading and I am forever grateful for this gift. But she was more than a teacher, she was like a sister to me ,she was maid of honor in my wedding party, and she was always there if I needed her ,I knew i could just call her and tell her my good news and bad news which was a lot in the past years.
I know she suffered and now her suffering is ended she is at peace with her beloved husband together in life and death as she wanted.
i will never forget the love she gave me when I needed a shoulder to cry and hang on to.
I will truly miss her and there is a void in my heart God Bless you Bert
I love and miss you dear friend you are at peace now rest well

Tom and Kelley Wehmeyer and girls posted a condolence

Roberta worked for my father in law, Dallas Singer, at Clopton. When she heard Kelley and I were getting married and looking for a house, she mentioned to Dallas that there was a newly built house across the street/gravel road from her's and Errett's home. Dallas and Kelley fell in love with the house and before I knew it, we had bought a house. They welcomed us warmly and became good friends to Kelley and I, even though we were generations apart. They welcomed our daughters when we brought them home from the hospital, as I would bring them up the steps for them to hold. Roberta and Errett remembered them at Christmas and birthdays. When the girls learned Roberta had a candy bowl, I knew if they were missing when I turned around, to look up to their porch and I would see Roberta opening her door to let the girls in. Carolyn found if she ran around to their back porch, Roberta would see her quicker. I enjoyed telling Roberta about my day as she always asked if she was outside tending to her flowers. She was grateful when the girls and I would shovel her drive after a snowfall as I came to realize they were retired and could wait out the snow until it melted. She and Errett introduced me to many people and were always letting me know of the Elsberry goings-on as I did not have too many friends in town. I know it is a cliche, but Roberta always had the special baking pan and extra sugar and Errett always had the tool I never knew I needed. Our family will miss them and cherish our memories of them together.

So sorry to hear of Roberta's death. I know she stayed around to take care of Errett. They must have had a wonderful marriage. Too bad I don't live closer so I could go to both funerals. My prayers and thoughts are with family.
Love,
Carol
