Obituary of Errett Linwood Harding

A Mass of Christian Burial for Errett Linwood Harding of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Fr. Charles Tichacek, church pastor, and Fr. Raymond Hagar, pastor of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in O'Fallon, MO, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Dameron, Gil Dameron, Owen Dameron, Dawson Dameron, Chris Dameron, Brad Boedeker, Todd Boedeker, John Boedeker, and Rick Boaz. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Harding, Bill Harding and Larry Harding. Mr. Harding, 92, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 18, 2013 at his home. Born May 12, 1921 in Vandalia, MO, he was the son of William A. and Thelma Sidwell Harding. Errett was a 1938 graduate of Paynesville High School. He served in the Merchant Marine, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Engineer. He was united in marriage on December 30, 1976 at St. John the Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO to Roberta M. McCormack. Before moving to Elsberry in the spring of 1992, Errett and Roberta lived in Creve Coeur and Clarksville. He worked as an inspector for Commercial Union and One Becon Insurance, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thelma Harding; two brothers: Andrew Harding and Bill Harding; and one sister, Florence Harding Roberts. Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 37 years, Roberta Harding of Elsberry; one sister, Louise Dameron of Elsberry; a brother-in-law, Francis Joseph McCormack of Greensboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Clara Addison of Atlanta, GA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great, great-nieces and great, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 20 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to Masses (or) American Cancer Society; 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
